About Job
SUD Counselor is responsible for but not limited to:
- Facilitates groups as assigned. Provides accurate documentation in Electronic Health Records (EHR) or is familiar with SAGE / PCNH, showing either progression or regression in client files. Documents attendance.
- Conducts individual counseling sessions using Motivational Interviewing techniques.
- Provides accurate and timely documentation showing either progression or regression in system notes program.
- Presents psycho-educational groups using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Seeking Safety.
- Conducts intake, orientation, and assessments.
- Conducts observed urinalysis of clients.
- Occasional front desk support.
- Performs other duties as requested by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must meet all conditions established by the state of California Title 9 requirements for counselors and currently Certified and/or Registered by one of the approved entities by the Institute for Credentialing Excellence.
- Must be knowledgeable in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Seeking Safety and Motivational Interviewing.
- Knowledge of evidence-based programming.
- Ability to use a computer, with experience in basic Microsoft and medical note systems.
- Ability to travel to assigned trainings as required
- Some knowledge of Drug Medical Billing system or be open to learning
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable working with computers and EHR
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations
- Organizational skills and attention to detail
- Must be able to pass a background check
- Bilingual (Spanish preferred)
Education:
- High School Graduate/GED (required)
- Registered or Certified AOD
- Completed the Alcohol and Drug Studies program through a recognized institution. (required)
- Have completed training through workshops, seminars or training institutes that are directly related to position being applied for.
