Job Description:

Legacy Behavioral Health Services is hiring individuals with a passion for making a difference in their community! We are seeking an Intake Nurse Coordinator to work in our Behavioral Health Crisis Center (BHCC) in Valdosta Georgia. The Intake Nurse Coordinator (RN) is tasked with providing safe and quality treatment to all patients, as well as assisting psychiatric and medical management teams to ensure the safe, effective, and productive treatment of patients. They are responsible for mentoring employees and teaching relevant skills on an as-needed basis. Communication skills are important in this position to work well with employees, patients, and families of patients. They should have general knowledge of medical software applications and business-oriented office software applications, and they must be able to work independently and troubleshoot problems. They should also be able to multi-task and work well under pressure, coordinating with providers for admission and discharging of patients. Perform and/or coordinate nursing assessments in triage to assist in developing patient care plans and assist with discharging patients. Educate patients and families on procedures, treatment options, and symptom management.

This position requires:

  • Must have a current Georgia RN license.
  • BSN preferred.
  • 2 years minimum experience in psychiatric nursing, preferred.
  • Must be CPR and First Aid certified or to obtain certification. Must be physically able to perform CPR.
  • Must be proficient in verbal and written communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and critical thinking.
  • Must be able to identify and report any adverse side effects of medication to the physician.
  • Must have excellent time management and critical thinking skills.
  • Individuals in this position must be able to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations

Working Conditions:

This position may be exposed to viruses, diseases, and infection from persons served or the working environment. Incumbents may be required to work extended periods of time at computer terminals. They may experience traumatic situations, including psychiatric and /or deceased patients.

Physical Demands:

Regularly required to talk and hear. The position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping and crouching as well as lifting and supporting patients.
