Salary Range:
$52,500.00 - $61,000.00 USD annually.

The Social Worker is responsible for contributing to the creation and implementation of a comprehensive school guidance program, which promotes and enhances academic, personal, social, and career development for students. This position is funded by and serves the requirements of the SSP-ESSER Program at the school for which it is awarded.

GRANT FUNDED POSITION
This is a grant funded position. Continuation is contingent on future grant funding.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A Master’s degree in social work from an accredited institution. Official transcript(s) required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in social work or a related field working with families and children.
  • Valid AZ license as a Social Worker (LCSW, LMSW), required
  • ADE Certified Social Worker, required before hire date
  • Active AZ Department of Public Safety (DPS) IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Spanish bilingual, preferred but not required.
  • Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Complies with State statutes, Board policies, administrative procedures and regulations.
  • Attends required program training and conduct required program activities, including implementation of social emotional learning strategies.
  • Implements School Social Worker responsibilities as recommended by the School Social Workers Association of America or the American School Counselor Association

  • Completes assessments and gathers data for multidisciplinary evaluations to include parental consents, developmental histories, adaptive behavior scales, classroom observations.
  • Conducts home visits as directed by the directors.
  • Establishes and facilitates Olweus anti-bullying group.
  • Provides short-term counseling to students, i.e., maintains records, facilitates referrals to appropriate institutions, responds to requests for counseling in a timely manner.
  • Participates in crisis intervention services as requested by site administrators, i.e., responds in a timely manner to crisis situations, assumes leadership or guidance roles as requested, facilitates referrals to appropriate agencies for needed follow-up as appropriate.
  • Provides direct social work assistance to children and their families, i.e., is available to meet with parents and schools staff as to determine student/family needs, make contacts with appropriate agencies/resources to address needs follows through with parents and/or agencies to ensure services received, maintains documentation of services provided for students/families.
  • Assist in translating for Spanish-speaking families at the direction of the directors and in assistance with the Dean.
  • Provides assistance to school staff in areas such as child development, community resources, social/behavioral management
  • Provides support to other staff in supervising community service hours, welcoming families to the campus, lead campus tours, support Future Sun Devil Families, and other outreach activities to ASU Prep at the direction of the directors.
  • Attends all scheduled student ILP conferences and provides appropriate follow-up on MDC recommendations.
  • Conducts appropriately toward staff and parents and exhibits self-control and good judgment.
  • Submits an annual and monthly report as requested by the Director of Exceptional Programs, i.e., submits documentation in a timely manner, follows adopted procedures and standards.
  • Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Demonstrated knowledge of legal and ethical practices and guidelines in Counseling.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of community information and referral services.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of school policies and procedures community linkages and referrals for student supportive services.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong clinical skills.
  • Knowledge of family systems, child and adolescent mental health, and adoption issues.
  • Ability to articulate, represent professional demeanor and ability to take initiative.
