Job Description

Colonial Behavioral Health provides opportunities for recovery to individuals and their family members in the areas of mental illness, substance use disorder, and developmental disabilities. Colonial Behavioral Health serves the citizens of James City County, City of Poquoson, City of Williamsburg, and York County.

We are currently recruiting for a Clinician III (LE) position within our GWCAC program. This position works is responsible for engaging, educating, counseling and coordinating services for children and their families experiencing mental health and substance use disorders.

Job Duties

Job Responsibilities


  • Provides telephone and in-person screening and triage of children, adolescents and their families
  • Conduct assessments, evaluations, service planning, and diagnosis of the population.
  • Responsible for screening and completing intake paperwork and collaboration with clinical and fiscal staff to assist in the coordination of services.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule

Monday through Friday from 8:30am - 5:00pm;

Evening & Weekend hours may be required based on program needs

Skills and Qualifications


  • Ability to develop and implement a systems model of care for the at risk clients and their families including the multiple services providers involved with the youth, addressing behavioral needs, emotional needs, health needs, legal needs, etc.
  • Ability to prepare a comprehensive recovery-oriented treatment plan according to agency guidelines.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in the use of assessment, therapeutic and outcome measures in areas of clinical focus.
  • One year of work experience with individuals with serious mental illness and/or substance use disorder required.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Master’s Degree in a human services field required.
  • Resident in Counseling, Resident in Marriage & Family, Supervisee in Social Work required.
DMV record must be submitted with application.
