Position Title: Licensed Mental Health Professional (LMHP)
Location: Community Settings, or Telehealth Services
Job Summary:
The Licensed Mental Health Professional (LMHP) provides clinical services to individuals with mental health, developmental, or substance use disorders. LMHPs conduct assessments, develop individualized service plans (ISPs), provide therapy, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver evidence-based care. LMHPs ensure compliance with all regulatory guidelines and support the mission of DBHDS to promote recovery, resilience, and person-centered care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clinical Services:
- Provide direct mental health services, including individual, group, and family therapy, using evidence-based modalities.
- Conduct diagnostic evaluations and psychosocial assessments based on DSM-5 criteria.
- Develop and implement Individualized Service Plans (ISPs) that address clients' needs and goals.
- Crisis Intervention and Management:
- Assess and manage mental health crises, develop safety plans, and stabilize individuals experiencing acute distress.
- Collaborate with Crisis Intervention Teams (CIT), law enforcement, and emergency services when necessary.
- Collaboration and Supervision:
- Work with interdisciplinary teams, including psychiatrists, case managers, and peer recovery specialists, to coordinate client care.
- Provide clinical supervision to Licensed Mental Health Professional-Eligible (LMHP-E) staff and other supervisees as required.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation of all services provided, ensuring compliance with DBHDS and DMAS standards.
- Stay up-to-date on changes to Virginia state policies and licensing requirements.
- Treatment Planning and Monitoring:
- Monitor and revise treatment plans as needed, using outcome-based evaluations to measure client progress.
- Refer clients to appropriate community resources or higher levels of care as needed.
- Training and Development:
- Assist with developing and implementing program materials, staff training sessions, and clinical interventions.
- Stay informed about best practices in mental health treatment through continuing education.
Qualifications:
- A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Nursing, or a related human services field.
- A valid license in Virginia as one of the following:
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
- Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
- Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
- Licensed Clinical Psychologist
- Licensed Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
- Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Practitioner (LSATP)
- Licensed Behavior Analyst (LBA)
- Licensed Psychiatrist
- Licensed Mental Health Professional (LMHP)
Eligible Candidates (e.g., Residents in Counseling, Supervisees in Social Work) may apply under supervision arrangements.
Skills and Competencies:
- Expertise in diagnostic assessments, treatment planning, and therapeutic interventions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with clients and interdisciplinary teams.
- Ability to work in high-pressure situations and provide crisis intervention.
- Knowledge of state and federal mental health regulations, Medicaid requirements, and DBHDS policies.
Work Environment:
- Office, outpatient, or residential settings, depending on the assigned program.
- Potential for telehealth service delivery.
- May require travel to community-based sites or client homes.
