Companion and “partner in crime” to a severely affected but fun- loving young adult on the autism spectrum.

Location: West side of Bolingbrook

Program is supervised by a Developmental Therapist who is a BCBA Pay: $28/hr

This is a permanent position 25-40 hrs per week. (can job share)

10:30 am to 6:30ish pm Monday thru Friday
Hours have some flexibility ( doctors' visits etc) and an occasional weekend shift is needed

We prefer a young- minded individual who will be happy to engage him in age-appropriate activities like using his Nintendo Switch and exploring age appropriate hobbies and activities.

ACTIVITIES WILL INCLUDE:

community outings

self care skills

physical fitness

baking and other food prep including introduction to new foods

leisure time activities and exploring new leisure time activities

arts and crafts

Activities that enhance his ability to function and improve his quality of life.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

Has a background in successfully working with unreliable speaking or non-speakers with behaviors

Prior training in crisis prevention would be ideal.

Is open to MASTERING a new method of communication (RPM/S2C) and diligently working on it with him

Is able to pass a background check

Has a clean driving record and a trustworthy automobile

Has a calm and accepting, lighthearted attitude, BUT is detail minded and diligent when appropriate.

Loves swimming and bike riding and being physically active but is also able to chill.

Is young at heart, very active and interested in learning and exploring new things.

Familiar with an epi pen or willing to train. Young man has other medical issues that need some special attention.
