Title: Mental Health Counselor (Clinical Trainee)

Location: Scott County, Savage, MN 55378

FLSA Status: Full-time, Exempt

Purpose:

We are looking for an individual who is excited to encounter the full range of mental health diagnoses and presentations that will prepare you for your future career goals. This position works with the Clinical Supervisor and will serve as the primary counselor providing and directing clinical interventions as part of an interdisciplinary team.

This position delivers therapeutic interventions, skill development (individually and in groups), and care coordination in a residential setting. It continually assesses and responds to needs and goals, including mental, physical and chemical health. This position also helps prepare residents for successful discharge to the community by coordinating with providers and natural supports. This job is designed for individuals wanting to further their clinical skills or obtain hours needed for licensure.

Key Responsibilities:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Actively participate in the mental health services, sharing of clinical expertise with other team members to promote effective therapeutic practice and intervention.
  • Ensure services are documented in individual records so information is readily available, results of services can be determined, and record-keeping standards are met.
  • Provide one-to-one and group counseling, observe resident behavior, physical and emotional symptoms and perform behavioral management interventions, as needed.
  • Provide crisis assessment and intervention to resolve emergency situations.
  • Conducts ongoing assessments of resident to assure treatment interventions match current functioning and needs.
  • Communicate treatment interventions and methods as appropriate to provide coordination and define service direction, including regular evaluation of treatment plan for effectiveness.
  • Participate in team meetings and processes for communication concerning clients. Participates in clinical supervision team meetings as required.

Education and Experiences:

The Mental Health Professional qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in one of the behavioral sciences
  • Current clinical license as a mental health professional in Minnesota with no restrictions (LICSW, LPCC, LMFT, LP).

The Clinical Trainee qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in one of the behavioral sciences
  • Working toward clinical licensure as defined by appropriate licensing board (LICSW, LPCC, LMFT, or LP)

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be ambulatory and able to negotiate stairways.
  • The ability to lift and carry up to 20-50 pounds (e.g., grocery bags or client belongings, etc.).
  • A valid MN Class ‘D’ Driver’s License, reliable vehicle, satisfactory driving record and necessary insurance.
  • CPR / First Aid Certification.
  • Must not be actively receiving services from Guild and must not have received services within the last two years.

The salary range for this position is between $56,000 to $62,000 annually. The range reflects the minimum and maximum salary for the position. Compensation will depend on the candidate’s professional experience, skills, and relevant education, training, and certifications.
