Position Details
- Role: Psychologist – Behavioral Health Optimization Program (BHOP)
- Location: Colorado Military Health System – Network 9 (United States Air Force Academy, Buckley Air Force Base, and other MTFs within a 40-mile radius)
- Schedule: Typical duty hours are Monday–Friday, 0730–1630. Flexibility is required for mission needs, including possible nights, weekends, and federally recognized holidays.
- Mission Essential: Be a vital part of the military’s healthcare mission, reporting during crises and supporting continuity of care.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations and establish psychiatric diagnoses using the latest clinical standards.
- Deliver evidence-based individual, group, and family therapy to address a wide range of behavioral health needs.
- Support medical and surgical patients in coping with illness or injury, and assist in rehabilitation efforts.
- Participate in professional meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and military-specific training.
- Engage in applied research and clinical investigations to advance behavioral health practices.
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including medical personnel and military leadership.
What We’re Looking For
- Education: Doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA-accredited institution.
- Training: Successful completion of an APA-accredited internship in psychology.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ professional experience in an outpatient mental health clinic.
- Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a psychologist in any U.S. state or territory.
- Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Eligibility: U.S. citizenship or legal authorization to work in the United States (green card or H1B visa holders welcome).
