As a Lead Clubhouse Counselor, you will be responsible for the daily operations of our elementary school program, ensuring a safe and engaging environment for our students. This includes overseeing schedules, supervising and mentoring a team of counselors, and actively participating in lesson planning and implementation. You will also directly work with students, providing guidance and support, while fostering positive relationships with both children and staff. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential for this leadership role.

DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Assist in attendance records, routine safety checks, and general forms needed to operate the program effectively
• Plan and implement of age appropriate activities promoting the social/emotional safety and development of all participants
• Communicate regularly with parents, Clubhouse Coordinator and staff by email, phone, and in person
• Provide a safe and welcoming environment for students
• Lead recreational activities, homework help, and snack time
• Build positive relationships with students, understanding their needs and concerns
• Assist in maintaining a clean and safe program environment
• Plan and implement engaging and age-appropriate activities, games, and programs for children in after-school care, including arts, crafts, sports, and homework help.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with children, parents, and staff to ensure a welcoming and inclusive environment.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, medications, allergies, and special needs for each child.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor

• Minimum of 18 years of age
• Experience in working with children ages K-8th grade
• Must have reliable transportation
• Ability to communicate and interact effectively with children, parents, and staff
• Ability to solve problems that may arise
• Ability to enforce Park District rules and safety practices
• Certification in CPR/AED and First Aid is required

SALARY $16.00 per hour

HOURS 6:45am-8:30am and/or 3:00pm-6:00pm Monday-Friday, additional hours as needed
