About the Role
We are seeking a qualified and compassionate Psychiatric Technician to provide professional psychiatric care within a correctional facility in Sacramento, California. This role involves working closely with a multidisciplinary team to support the mental health and well-being of individuals in a secure environment.
Qualifications
- Minimum 24 months of experience (within the last 3 years) in a public or private institution performing psychiatric technician duties (internships not accepted)
- Current and valid California Psychiatric Technician license
- Proficiency in English—must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver behavioral and psychiatric nursing care to mentally or developmentally disabled individuals
- Conduct daily clinical rounds and monitor patients for signs and symptoms of mental illness
- Administer medications and treatments, including injections, under RN/MD supervision
- Record and chart vital signs and patient observations
- Collaborate with treatment teams to develop care plans
- Participate in group and individual therapy sessions
- Coordinate with custody staff to ensure patient safety and care
- Observe and report changes in patients’ physical or mental conditions
- Assist with scheduling and facilitating clinical appointments
- Respond to emergencies with CPR and first aid when needed
- Maintain thorough and accurate documentation in compliance with facility protocols
- Help foster a safe, secure, and therapeutic environment.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $50.00 - $52.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week

Experience:
- Licensed Psychiatric Technician: 2 years (Required)
License/Certification:
- Professional License issued by California Board (Required)
