ABOUT GEORGE GERVIN PREP ACADEMY:
George Gervin Prep is a charter school that serves about 250 kindergartners through eighth graders in South Phoenix. Since we are a charter school, we can provide individualized instruction to our students, allowing them to reach and achieve their academic potential.

George Gervin Prep Academy is seeking a Certified Counselor who will provide guidance and support to students, addressing their academic, social, emotional, and career development needs. This role involves individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, consultation with staff and parents, and participation in student support teams. They also play a key role in developing and implementing school counseling programs aligned with the school's mission and improvement plan, while adhering to ethical and professional standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and group counseling to students facing social, emotional, and behavioral challenges.
  • Offer immediate support and referrals to appropriate services for students in crisis.
  • Work with teachers, administrators, parents, and other professionals to support student success.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of comprehensive school counseling programs, including social-emotional learning initiatives.
  • Assist students with academic planning, post-secondary options, and career exploration.
  • Analyze data to identify factors that affect student performance and implement targeted interventions.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of services provided.
  • Advocate for students' rights and needs within the school and community.
  • Stay current with best practices, legal requirements, and ethical guidelines related to school counseling.

·Qualifications:

  • A master’s degree in School Counseling, Education, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • A valid Arizona School Counselor PreK-12 Certificate or a valid Social Work Certification as per the Arizona Department of Education requirements.
  • Experience working with school-age children is often preferred.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of legal and ethical practices in counseling, graduation requirements, school policies, and community resources.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $52,000.00 - $58,000.00 per year
