Job Overview:
The newly proposed Imperial Fate Charter Academy (sister campus of Majestic Charter Academy in Dallas), tentatively set to open in the Fall of 2027 in Duncanville, TX, seeks to hire a qualified individual to serve a dual duty as VICE PRINCIPAL/GUIDANCE COUNSELOR. The academy will serve 150 students or less in grades 6-12. The focus will be in the Arts, Sciences, Business, and Leadership.
Middle School (6-8) students will follow a year-round calendar. Students will receive the same mandated 75,600 minutes of instruction as students in traditional schools, however there are several breaks throughout the school year versus one long summer break. Middle school students will be completely in-person.
High School (9-12) students will follow a hybrid schedule: Students will attend school in-person Fridays and Saturdays, as this is a weekend academy. High School students will receive the remainder of their instruction remotely Tuesdays, Wednesday, and Thursdays. Teachers reserve the right if they want their students to log on live or during remote days. High school students will learn on a traditional school calendar.
The candidate for this role will oversee the Middle school portion of the academy, but may be asked to assist with high school duties from time to time.
The Texas Education Agency is mandating leaders of new charter schools to be set in place by November of 2025. In this role, the candidate will assist the DDG (Dean and Director of Guidance) with leadership and administrative duties, promote positive behavior in students, offer counseling to students and staff in need, assist with testing and assessment, and any other duties asked for by the DDG or the Superintendent.
Duties:
- Perform Vice Principal and Guidance Counselor duties as outlined in the district's job description.
- Assist Superintendent and DDG with applicant/candidate interviews.
- Monitor and oversee Teaching Assistant duties/posts.
- Oversee student behavior and conduct, including developing and implementing behavior plan and consequences appropriate for each grade level.
- Address bullying appropriately.
- Monitor academic progress of students.
- Facilitate, administer, and oversee campus-wide, district-wide, and state and nation-wide testing such as CAT, STAAR, EOC, and TELPAS.
- Serve as mediator or co-mediator for feuding staff.
- Enforce and monitor student dress code.
- Facilitate ARD's and FIE's.
- Facilitate and assist with staff development, workshops, seminars, and live/recorded staff development webinars.
- Attend on-going professional development sessions, seminars, and webinars as they relate to administration, leadership, and school counseling.
- Assist Dean with morning, after-school, and lunchroom duty.
- Serve as chaperone on out-of-town or overnight field trips.
- MUST serve as main Principal during summer school.
- Offer counseling to students and staff for personal issues, family matters, stress management, and conflict resolution.
- Make home visits to students and their families as needed and serve as their liaison; make reports to CPS when deemed necessary.
- Present films, assemblies, and presentations to students class-wide or campus-wide as they relate to safety, bullying, friendships, positive relationships, drug awareness, assaults/weapons, sex education, personal health and hygiene, etc.
- Play an integral role in career day and accommodating guest speakers.
- Assign substitute teachers to classrooms in the event the office secretary is absent.
- Assign substitute bus drivers to routes (or field trips) in the event the building Superintendent is absent.
- Attend monthly Administrators meetings with the main Superintendent and monthly Guidance Counselors meetings with the DDG.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of Master’s Degree in ANY discipline (or enrolled in a graduate program).
- Preference will be given to candidates with Both Special Education AND Counselor certification along with Principal, Assnt. Principal, or Mid-Management certification .
- Minimum 2 years verified experience teaching in a public, charter, or private school.
- Knowledge of the ARD process and other components of Special Education.
- Knowledge of standardized testing procedures and data analyzation.
- Knowledge of software and student learning systems such as I-Station, I-Ready, Project Education, Achieve 3000, Review360, and Unique.
