Description:
Saint Charles Borromeo Academy is seeking a part time Counselor for the 2025-2026 school year. Partnering with parents in their role as primary educators, Saint Charles Borromeo Academy extends the mission of the Church in forming true disciples of Jesus Christ. Through a Catholic Classic Liberal Arts education centered on Christ, we provide an integrated approach fostering a love for truth, beauty, and goodness. We seek to instill a natural desire for wisdom and virtue in all students.
Role:
- Liaison between the parish, school, parents, students, and staff.
- Be available as needed for urgent or emergency conflict resolution.
- Will be responsible for performing her duties including assisting in creating a positive, Christ-like learning environment for all teachers and students.
- Will help students resolve problems that interfere with gaining the greatest benefit from the school's educational and spiritual opportunities.
- Oversees a positive behavior management system that supports scholars to make positive behavioral choices and allows them to correct and take responsibility for mistakes.
- Reports to the principal.
- Supports staff through professional development.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of interventions related to social/emotional learning and behaviors.
- Receives referrals and confers with students.
- Assists the principal with response to and resolving parent, student and staff concerns.
- Monitors and organizes attendance concerns: emails/calls parents, attends meetings regarding absent or tardy issues.
- Attends SEP meetings with teachers as needed.
- Leads CARE team.
- Attends Crisis team meetings, reporting meetings to principal and priest, as well as staff, parents, and the community as needed.
- Participates in faculty meetings.
- Serves as a mentor to staff in dealing with classroom management issues and student discipline.
- Utilize school SEL program (Friendzy); adopt its principles and practices with students experiencing behavioral challenges.
- Theology of the Body with middle school
- Available as needed for referrals from parents and/or staff to meet with students.
- 35-40 hours per week (attend after school meetings on Wednesdays)
- Teaching Friendzy and Theology of the Body on a set schedule
- Meeting with individual students as needed during the lunch block hours or specified counseling hours.
- Providing monthly to quarterly professional development lessons to the staff based on needs.
- Have an arrival and dismissal post outside (front or back).
- Attendance at assembly time on Fridays, occasionally organizing assemblies.
- Understand and uphold the teachings of the Catholic Church at all times.
- Familiarity with the Catholic understanding of ministry is an asset
