Overview
The School Social Worker/Counselor plays a vital role in supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of students. This position involves working closely with students, parents, and staff to create a safe and nurturing environment that promotes student well-being and success. The School Social Worker/Counselor will provide guidance, support, and resources to help students navigate their educational journey and personal challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group counseling to students addressing academic, social, and emotional issues.
  • Develop and implement programs that promote positive behavior and mental health awareness.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to identify student needs and develop appropriate interventions.
  • Conduct assessments to evaluate students' needs and monitor their progress.
  • Facilitate crisis intervention services for students in need of immediate support.
  • Educate students on topics such as conflict resolution, stress management, and decision-making skills.
  • Maintain accurate records while ensuring confidentiality.
  • Advocate for the welfare of students by connecting their families with community resources.

Skills

  • Strong background in social work, counseling or behavioral health is preferred.
  • Proficient in crisis management techniques to effectively handle emergencies or critical situations.
  • Experience working with children in an educational setting is highly desirable.
  • Experience working with children with disabilites is preferred.
  • Ability to manage conflicts effectively through mediation and negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of child welfare policies and practices to ensure the safety of all students.
  • Excellent communication skills for educating students, parents, and staff about available resources and support systems.
  • Compassionate approach towards helping students overcome personal challenges while fostering resilience.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
