Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)

The Valley Day School, one of the leading Approved Private Schools in Bucks County, has a current opening for a Board Certified Behavior Analyst to join our team to help inspire, innovate and ignite student success!

The successful candidate will become a vital part of our school staff, working with our dedicated educational, clinical and behavioral teams to develop, monitor and modify innovative behavioral interventions for our students. Job Summary:

The purposes are to improve and maintain the behavior-analytic, professional, and ethical repertoires of the faculty and facilitate the delivery of high-quality behavior-analytic services.

  • Provide support and modeling to staff in behavior intervention strategies
  • Provide support to individuals and their families by coordinating and providing services in Applied Behavior Analysis, function analyses and assessment, behavior acquisition and reduction procedures, and adaptive life skills
  • Oversee assignment of Behavior Support staff and provide ongoing support to professionals as it relates to the implementation and documentation associated with Behavior Support Plans

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Support staff in identifying and working through problem behaviors
  • Provide ongoing professional development in behavior to all staff
  • Provide techniques and modeling of behavior intervention support to staff

Other Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with building staff to promote positive student behavior by providing professional development that targets research, strategies, and modeling of instructional practices to support staff in their implementation of positive support and PBIS
  • Demonstrate expertise in data collection and behavior analysis
  • Assist classroom teachers with the writing of comprehensive functional assessments and behavior intervention plans and instructional methodologies for staff
  • Demonstrate behavior management ideas and/or techniques
  • Provide training in the use of data collection, positive behavior supports, intervention techniques and instructional methodologies for staff
  • Coordinate activities and assignments of Behavior Support Professionals in data collection and student observations to support student progress toward behavioral goals.
  • Assist staff working with children with autism and emotional disturbance in remediating skill deficits, maintaining acquired skills, teaching self-help skills, and developing social skills
  • Develop materials and provide resources for and provide professional development to administrators, educators, paraprofessionals, and parents/guardians
  • Attend IEP, eligibility, or other meetings as necessary and provide related behavioral information
  • Work with students who exhibit maladaptive/unexpected behaviors and provide support and professional learning for staff who work with such students
  • Engage parents in the process of creating behavior programs for students to empower parents by providing them with skills and techniques to support the positive behavior development of their child.
  • Conduct functional behavior assessments and educational assessments, accurately identifying the function of challenging behavior and socially valid, pivotal behaviors to target
  • Develop behavior support plans that recommend individualized, evidence-based behavioral strategies in a format accessible to staff, family members, and other professionals
  • Develop strong collaborative relationships and train school staff to implement effective techniques across all environments, promoting progress and generalization
  • Provide ongoing training of school staff, ensuring treatment integrity and supporting the professional growth of staff
  • Monitor progress and evaluate treatment effectiveness regularly, maintaining high rates of progress
  • Identify behavior goals and intervention techniques utilizing non-aversive behavior change methods
  • Select interventions and strategies according to the needs and abilities of the individual, and prepare written behavior interventions and strategies, and support plans
  • Complete reports and other paperwork within the established timeframes
  • Participate in building-level meetings as appropriate
  • Function in a capacity to provide oversight to all areas of programming including the training
  • In consultation with school administration, development of data-collection performance expectations for staff
  • Assist in the development, facilitation, and follow-up training in Applied Behavior Analysis, using both discrete trial training and natural environment training models of teaching
  • Assist in the development and implementation of assessment tools, to conduct functional assessments and analyses when appropriate, and to develop appropriate
  • Ongoing training and monitoring of Behavior Support staff in implementation of ABA principles and methodology and behavior reduction strategies
  • Create an ongoing data collection system to establish baseline and programmatic efficacy for all students, and to analyze data on a frequent and ongoing basis to guide programming
  • Develop behavior plans/treatment plans for all students with a focus on teaching and other antecedent strategies for reducing problematic behavior(s)
  • Meet as needed with staff to discuss ongoing students' issues and to provide support when necessary
  • Review and recommend to Administration behavior plan/treatment plan training for all staff
  • Keep current with the literature, new research findings and resources. In addition, continuing education courses to maintain BCBA certification are necessary (32 credits every 2 years)
  • Maintain all data, paperwork, and communication between school staff and families, and provide ongoing feedback to government related agencies that contract with such families
