Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Medical Social Worker to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing emotional support and assistance to patients and their families as they navigate complex medical situations. You will work closely with healthcare professionals to develop comprehensive care plans that address both the medical and psychosocial needs of patients.

Duties

Conduct assessments to evaluate patients' social, emotional, and environmental needs.
Provide crisis intervention and support to patients experiencing acute distress.
Facilitate group therapy sessions and individual psychotherapy as needed.
Collaborate with medical staff to integrate social work services into patient care plans.
Maintain accurate medical records, including documentation of ICD-9 codes when applicable.
Offer guidance on resources available for PTSD care, assisted living options, and support for individuals with autism.
Implement cognitive behavioral therapy techniques to assist patients in coping with their conditions.
Advocate for patients' rights and access to necessary services within the healthcare system.

Experience

A Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program is required.
Previous experience in a healthcare setting is preferred, particularly in areas such as crisis intervention, group therapy, or psychotherapy.
Familiarity with applied behavior analysis techniques is a plus.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team are essential.
Knowledge of medical records management and coding practices (ICD-9) is advantageous.
