Overview
The Student Services Director plays a key leadership role in promoting student well-being, inclusive education, and social-emotional learning (SEL) across ourDual Immersion K–8 charter school. This position oversees Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), leads student support initiatives, supervises staff and programming, and coordinates with families, school personnel, and community resources. The ideal candidate is passionate about our mission/vision, data-informed decision-making, and culturally responsive support systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage schoolwide PBIS implementation, ensuring consistent and equitable behavioral expectations and supports.
- Supervise and support student services staff including behavior specialists, interventionists, and counselors.
- Develop, coordinate, and evaluate student support programs and SEL initiatives aligned with the school’s mission and strategic plan.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and multidisciplinary teams to identify student needs and implement targeted interventions.
- Build strong partnerships with parents and families, promoting engagement and shared responsibility for student success.
- Use data to monitor student outcomes, drive improvements, and adjust programming and interventions accordingly.
- Identify and manage grants and other funding opportunities to support student services and schoolwide initiatives.
- Provide training and coaching to staff on trauma-informed practices, SEL strategies, and inclusive education.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and policies related to student services and equity in education.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Education, Sociology, or any related social science field.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English (oral and written communication).
- Experience directing programs/initiatives within school settings.
- Familiarity with charter school systems and K–8 educational settings.
- Experience leading MTSS or similar tiered support systems.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working with students in educational or youth-centered environments.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with school teams, families, and external service providers.
- Strong understanding of using student data to inform interventions and practices.
- Experience in grant writing, management, or coordination of externally funded programs.
- Cultural competency and a deep commitment to serving diverse and underserved student populations.
Compensation and Schedule
- Full-time, salaried position.
- Follows the full school Administrative year calendar (with three weeks off summer break and option to work a hybrid schedule during the summer).
