RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides person centered wellness focused support to engage individuals in treatment and to promote use of the individual’s wellness recovery plan; shares his/her firsthand lived experiences with recovery to inspire hope, increase engagement in treatment and in the communities and support individuals in articulating personal goals for wellness, recovery resiliency and self–advocacy; will function within the Individual’s treatment team and will receive individual supervision; has knowledge of the signs and symptoms of Mental Illness and Substance Disorders; provides peer support; serve as an advocate; carry out wellness rehabilitation for mental health and substance use disorders and support functions; promotes recovery from substance use and/or mental health conditions; promotes employment, education, health, and community integration; and serves as a role model for personal recovery; services provided include outreach, monitoring, advocacy, daily living support, crisis intervention, consultation to families, development of functional skills and appropriate behavior, transportation to implement the individual service plan; services may be rendered on an individual basis; participates in special events, conferences, workshops, and training within the mental health system and community; works closely with staff, hospital, law enforcement agencies and other community agencies and organizations; and documents all contacts, activities in the individuals’ records.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Requirements
M1: High school diploma or equivalent
M2: Must be, or previously have been, a recipient of mental health or substance use disorder services for a mental illness or substance use disorder and should be well along in the recovery process
M3: Valid driver’s license and safe driving record
Preferred Requirements
P1: Certification as an Action Planning for Prevention and Recovery (APPR) Facilitator
P2: Certification and Registration as a Peer Recovery Specialist
P3: Some college
Fingerprints, State and FBI criminal record reports, drug test, and central registry (CANIS) report will be required upon request. Our Agency maintains a drug-free workplace.
ANNUAL SALARY RANGE
$41,389 - $72,431
Shift Differential: $2.00 for 2nd shift; $3.00 for 3rd shift
