The Middle School Career/Guidance Counselor holds a valid Illinois Teaching Certificate and guidance counselor certification, with a bachelor’s degree. Reports to the principal or designee and collaborates regularly with parents, staff, and administration. Job goal: Support middle school students through adolescence, promoting academic improvement and aiding their adjustment. Responsibilities include managing student services, assisting instructional staff, and fulfilling professional duties. Salary follows negotiated schedules A&B. Performance evaluations occur at least once every two years for contractual employees and annually for non-contractual staff. Physical demands involve handling people and equipment, with abilities to lift up to 50 pounds, bend, reach, and stand for extended periods. Mental demands focus on supervising students and maintaining a safe environment in a busy, noisy setting. Reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities.
