The Greater Lansing Islamic School is seeking a compassionate, student-centered Part-Time School Counselor to support the emotional, social, and academic well-being of our students. The ideal candidate is empathetic, collaborative, and committed to helping students thrive in a nurturing Islamic learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide individualized and group counseling to support students’ emotional and social needs
- Collaborate closely with teachers to develop and implement targeted behavior and academic interventions
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress, concerns, and support plans
- Work in close partnership with the school principal and teaching staff to foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive school climate
- Assist with crisis intervention and provide guidance for students dealing with personal or academic challenges
- Maintain appropriate documentation in compliance with professional standards and school policies
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in School Counseling, Social Work, or a related field
- Valid counseling or social work credential/license
- Prior experience working in a school setting preferred
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated empathy, professionalism, and cultural sensitivity
Pay: $25.00 per hour
