Position Details:Start Date: August 2026 for the 26/27 school year• Hours: Full-time (7.25 hours/day)• Grade Levels: PreK–12 students (3 locations)

Credentials: MI LMSW and School Social Worker MDE required• Compensation: Starting at $54/hour (commensurate with experience)• Location: Carson City, MI - Onsite Only

 

Position Overview:

We are currently seeking a School Social Worker to join our dynamic team at E-Therapy. The successful candidate will play a vital role in providing social work services to students, families, and school staff, addressing social, emotional, and behavioral concerns to support students' overall well-being and academic success.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments of students’ mental health, social-emotional functioning, and behavioral needs in collaboration with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
  • Provide individual and group counseling services focused on issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, peer relationships, and family conflict.
  •  Respond to crises within the school setting, including suicide risk assessments, child abuse reporting, and emergency mental health support.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of IEPs and 504 Plans, especially addressing emotional, behavioral, and social goals.
  • Serve as a liaison between school personnel, families, and community agencies to coordinate support and access to resources like mental health services, food assistance, or housing.
  • Develop and implement school-wide prevention programs and social-emotional learning (SEL) initiatives aimed at improving school climate and student well-being.
  • Provide consultation to teachers and school staff regarding behavioral strategies, trauma-informed care, and student mental health concerns.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of assessments, treatment plans, interventions, progress, and referrals in accordance with school policies and confidentiality guidelines
Qualifications

What you need:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from a CSWE-accredited program
  • Active state licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or equivalent (LMSW with supervision may be acceptable depending on state and district).
  •  Experience providing clinical or school-based social work services to children and adolescents.
  • Strong clinical skills in assessment, counseling, and crisis response.
  • Knowledge of school systems, child development, and evidence-based interventions.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team including educators, psychologists, and administrators.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with electronic recordkeeping systems; experience with telehealth is a plus.

Physical Requirements (Working in a School Setting):

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and move around in various areas of the school facility. The employee must be able to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents both verbally and in writing. The employee may need to lift or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds and may occasionally be required to bend, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Additionally, the employee must have the physical stamina to supervise and engage with students throughout the school day.
