Job Title: Bilingual Social Worker (MSW, LMSW or LCSW) - Neuro Oncology Clinic (New York)


Position Overview:

A leading New York City health system is seeking a compassionate and highly skilled MSW, LMSW or LCSW to join its outpatient Neuro-Oncology team. This role supports patients and families navigating complex neurological cancers, providing psychosocial assessments, counseling, care coordination, and resource navigation throughout the continuum of care.


Working within a multidisciplinary team of neurologists, oncologists, nurses, and advanced practice providers, the social worker plays a critical role in addressing emotional, psychological, and social determinants of health to improve patient outcomes.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments for patients diagnosed with neurological cancers (e.g., glioblastoma, brain tumors, metastatic CNS disease)
  • Provide individual, family, and group counseling to support coping, adjustment, and mental health needs
  • Develop and implement patient-centered care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
  • Offer crisis intervention and emotional support for patients and caregivers
  • Assist with advance care planning, goals-of-care discussions, and end-of-life support when appropriate
  • Coordinate referrals to community resources, including financial assistance, transportation, home care, and support services
  • Facilitate support groups and educational sessions for patients and caregivers
  • Advocate for patients' needs within the healthcare system and community
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (Epic preferred)
  • Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences and team meetings


Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program
  • Active New York State LMSW or LCSW license preferred
  • Must be bilingual/fluent in Spanish
  • 1–2 years of clinical social work experience in a healthcare or oncology setting preferred
  • Experience working with medically complex or oncology patient populations strongly preferred
  • Strong assessment, counseling, and crisis intervention skills
  • Knowledge of community resources and healthcare systems in NYC
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-based environment


Schedule/Shift: Monday-Friday, 830-5p EST


Location: New York, NY 10032 (Washington Heights)


Pay: 35-43/hr DOE/license
