We are seeking a passionate and energetic K-8 Certified School Counselor to join our vibrant educational community. In this vital role, you will provide emotional, behavioral, and academic support to students, helping them navigate challenges and succeed both inside and outside the classroom. Your proactive approach will foster a positive school climate, promote student well-being, and support their overall development. Responsibilities
- Develop and implement counseling programs tailored to the needs of K-8 students, focusing on social-emotional growth, mental health, and behavioral management
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions to address issues such as conflict management, behavioral health, childhood development, and mental health concerns
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, administrators, and external agencies to create comprehensive support plans for students facing academic or personal challenges
- Conduct assessments related to standardized testing preparation, child welfare concerns, and behavioral health evaluations
- Offer crisis intervention when necessary, including child protective services referrals or immediate mental health counseling
- Promote cultural diversity counseling and social work practices to ensure an inclusive environment that respects all backgrounds
- Maintain detailed records of counseling sessions, student progress, and intervention outcomes in compliance with school policies
Requirements
- Valid K-8 school counselor certification/license in accordance with state regulations
- Proven experience working with children and students in an educational setting
- Strong knowledge of childhood development theories, behavior management techniques, and social-emotional learning strategies
- Familiarity with special education procedures and accommodations for diverse learning needs
- Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with students, parents, teachers, and community partners
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and discretion while adhering to confidentiality standards
- Experience in behavioral health or mental health counseling is highly desirable
- Knowledge of child protective services protocols and child welfare practices is a plus

Pay: $53,159.00 - $59,317.00 per year
