Job Overview

Pride Health is seeking a compassionate and motivated Certified Peer Specialist (CPS/CASAC) to support individuals navigating mental health and substance use recovery.

This role focuses on advocacy, engagement, wellness planning, crisis support, and helping participants build independence through community-based support services.

Key Responsibilities1. Engagement & Relationship Building

  • Build authentic, empathy-driven relationships with participants and families
  • Maintain a caseload and support community outreach efforts
  • Use lived experience to foster trust and improve engagement
  • Encourage treatment participation and help-seeking behaviors

2. Advocacy & Participant Support

  • Advocate for participant access to healthcare and community resources
  • Assist individuals with transportation barriers, appointments, and care navigation
  • Facilitate wellness groups, peer support sessions, WRAP, and harm reduction activities
  • Support participants in developing wellness plans and life skills

3. Crisis & Recovery Support

  • Provide non-clinical support during crisis situations
  • Assist with wellness and recovery plan activation
  • Support individuals transitioning from crisis, hospitalization, or incarceration settings

4. Documentation & Team Communication

  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation
  • Communicate participant updates and safety concerns to the care team
  • Participate in meetings, supervision, and ongoing training

5. Community Integration

  • Support participants in building independence and long-term recovery goals
  • Connect individuals to community programs and support services
  • Promote inclusion and participation in community activities

Required Qualifications

  • Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) — CRPA certification (provisional accepted)
  • CASAC Certification
  • Lived experience with mental health and/or substance use treatment systems
  • Active involvement in peer support, self-help, or advocacy programs
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and de-escalation skills
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries and exercise sound judgment
  • Trauma-informed and culturally competent approach
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with families, youth, or children
  • Knowledge of local community resources
  • Bilingual candidates encouraged to apply
