Afterschool Counselor – Sunrise Park Elementary

Sunrise Park Elementary is seeking caring, energetic, and dependable individuals to join our Afterschool Program team. The Afterschool Counselor provides direct supervision and care to students in our extended learning program and plays an important role in maintaining a safe, engaging, and positive environment for all students.

This position is part of a committed school team that ensures the highest standards in student safety, security, and care.

Position Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision of students during afterschool hours
• Ensure the safety, security, and well-being of all children
• Assist with homework completion and daily activities
• Take attendance and distribute snacks
• Oversee the proper use of facilities, materials, and equipment
• Implement emergency procedures and provide basic first aid when necessary
• Document student accidents, injuries, and incidents
• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment
• Demonstrate professionalism regarding school affairs and interactions with families and staff
• Support school policies, procedures, and district expectations
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Experience working with children preferred
• Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of students and families
• Must be capable of lifting/carrying up to 20 lbs. regularly and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
• Some physical activity is required
