Senior Residential Counselor
Schedule: Full-Time (40 hours per week) plus overtime opportunities
Shift: Monday 7am-3pm; Wednesday-Saturday 3pm-11pm
Pay: $21.50-$22.50/hour plus bilingual differential for Spanish/English new hires
Structured New Hire Bonus: $500/$750 (bilingual)

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and teens? Hope For Youth is seeking a dedicated Senior Residential Counselor to support youth in our non-secure detention (NSD) residential program. This role helps create a safe, structured, and supportive environment while serving as a leader and mentor to both residents and staff.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and support Residential Counselors on shift
  • Foster a safe, respectful, and structured environment
  • Support youth development and positive decision-making
  • Engage and supervise youth in daily activities and routines in residence and community
  • Collaborate with supervisors and team members to provide services in compliance with OA regs, laws, policies and procedures
  • Complete documentation, transportation, and crisis intervention responsibilities

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid NYS driver's license in good standing
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule
  • Ability to physically intervene in crisis situations (TCI training provided), including but not only lifting and moving up to 50lbs or more related to household and community activities involving cooking, shopping, laundry, furniture arranging, luggage packing, moving lifting, storing, climbing and using stairs, bending, stooping, squatting, reaching overhead, etc.
  • Ability to transport youth and complete required documentation
  • Team-oriented, dependable, and responsive to feedback

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior leadership, supervisory, or senior staff experience
  • Residential counseling, direct care, youth services, or child welfare experience
  • Experience working with at-risk youth in residential or behavioral health settings
  • Bilingual Spanish/English skills strongly preferred
