Kansas Neurological Institute

The Kansas Neurological Institute (KNI) is an intermediate care facility offering support to approximately 120 residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities. KNI practices a person-centered philosophy to support our residents so they can have the quality of life they deserve by recognizing their individuality, honoring their choices, protecting and maintaining their health, helping to build and maintain their relationships with others, and making sure that they are included in every aspect of their lives; in their homes, in their jobs, and in the community.

KNI has 19 homes with direct support staff assisting with daily living activities in each home throughout four buildings and is located on a large campus, east of the VA hospital in Topeka. KNI is funded in part by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and is subject to requirements bestowed by Federal and State levels of government conditions of participation.

About the Position:

The Health Care Coordinator assesses the health of the residents and collaborates with multiple departments in order to create and adjust plans of care for the residents that live at KNI. They will also help ensure the plan that has been recommended is being followed. This includes having an indepth knowledge of policies, monitoring work performance and quality of care, modeling the proper procedures, and coaching and assisting in training of staff. Additionally, they will be responsible for delivering support and nursing care to people who live at KNI, within the RN Scope of Practice, following Federal and State of Kansas statutes and regulations, KNI Policy and Procedure, Physician/Mid-Level/RN Orders, and the Kansas Nurse Practice Act & Scope of Practice Guidelines.

Compensation/Other Information:

  • Hourly Pay: $40.83/hr

Qualifications:

  • Must be a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Kansas.
  • Must be certified in Cardio-Pulmonary by a nationally recognized program.
  • Must maintain active RN license and CPR certification during employment.

  • Ability to take and pass a drug screen
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check
