Pro-Rata Faculty Positions, School of Social Work (#1543)

The Marywood University School of Social Work seeks to hire two faculty members to join a collaborative academic community dedicated to excellence in teaching, professional preparation, and student support. These positions are primarily for our MSW program and designated as half-time pro-rata ranked faculty (Assistant Professor, Professor, or Instructor) roles, involving instruction at a specified percentage of a full-time teaching load, typically one-half, along with responsibilities such as student advisement, participation in University and departmental meetings, and curriculum development. Benefits will be available in accordance with the University’s definition of pro-rata ranked faculty appointments. Please note that these positions are not eligible for tenure or promotion in rank.

Responsibilities

• Teach 4 courses in an academic year.
• Teach courses at the Scranton and/or Lehigh Valley campuses.
• Service to the Program, University, and profession

Minimum Requirements

• MSW from an accredited program, LSW/LCSW preferred
• 5 years practice experience post-MSW preferred
• Prior higher education teaching experience both face-to-face and online
• Applicants must possess proficiency in using standard office and instructional technologies, including the Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), to support teaching, communication, and administrative responsibilities

Position descriptions:

The primary responsibility of these positions is teaching within the MSW Program. Course assignments will be based on the candidate’s area of expertise as well as programmatic needs. Teaching responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, courses such as:

• Social Work Research
• Advanced Social Work Practice
• Social Welfare Policy and Services
• Human Behavior in the Social Environment
• Social Work Administration
• Program Evaluation
• Psychopathology
• Ethical Issues in Social Work Practice
• Specialized or elective courses aligned with the candidate’s expertise.

Review will begin immediately and will continue until positions are filled.

Start date: August 24, 2026.
