NuVu's Summer Residential Program is for out-of-area and out-of-country students, ages 14-18, located at the MIT Design Studios, MIT, in Cambridge, MA. We are seeking applicants to fill two available positions of Residential Advisor. 


The Residential Advisors are responsible for enhancing each NuVu Summer Resident Student's experience by providing activities, direction, guidance, friendship, and support. There are informal day-to-day contacts with Student Residents as well as formal meetings, activities, and programs that the Residential Advisor will be in charge of coordinating and managing. 


NuVu Students in the Residential Program will be participating in NuVu Summer’s day program from 9am-3pm, Monday through Friday. The Residential Advisor is responsible for the supervision of all participating students for any hours outside the day program hours. During this time, NuVu’s day program Staff will be primarily organizing studio activities for the students and the Residential Advisor can use this time to plan and organize evening activities.


The Residential Advisor is responsible to the NuVu Summer Program Director who will provide overarching responsibilities and guidance as far as program and activity development, administrative responsibilities, and communication protocols. 


NuVu's Summer 2026 Residential Advisor will take responsibility and ownership of the following: 


Student Activity and Meal Planning & Implementation:

●  Work with the summer operations staff to plan daily and weekend activities and meals within the recommended program budget 

  • Plan,organize, and implement daily meals for all students (most meals will be at the MIT Dorms or at NuVu’s Summer Program)

● Plan, organize and implement events and activities such as tours of the MIT and Harvard campuses, excursions to many of the historic sites in Boston, tour of the MIT Museum, movie nights, hikes along the Boston waterfront, etc. 

● Mediate conflicts that may occur between roommates and among residents. 

● Address individual student needs and concerns. 

● Report any students concerns to NuVu Operations staff as acting liaison between students and NuVu 

  • Live on campus at MIT for the duration of the residential program


Administrative Responsibilities and Communication: 

● Report any and all concerns related to student engagement and conduct 

● Liaise with dormitory contact and NuVu Operations staff regarding any rooming issues, check-in/check-out timing 

● Ensure safe pick up and drop off at Boston Logan Airport


Training, Meetings, and Duty Responsibilities 

● Attend occasional staff meetings as requested, training sessions, and individual meetings with NuVu Operations Staff 


Residential Advisors are assigned to groups of approximately 10 students, but also share responsibilities for managing the larger Student Resident community. 


Residential Advisors must be available for the full 2-week program from July 19 - August 1, 2026 and will need to attend a training session  in person or over Zoom. 


Qualifications: 

Summer Residential Advisors come from a range of backgrounds and bring a diversity of expertise. The ideal Residential Advisor is an undergraduate student who demonstrates an understanding of both the mission of NuVu and of the Residential Life Community. Candidates will demonstrate experience in leadership, conflict resolution, teamwork and working with diverse groups of individuals. Candidates should also demonstrate competency in written and oral communication. 

Required Qualifications: 


● Undergraduate, Graduate or PhD Student 

● Over 21 years old

● Professional 

● Local to Cambridge or Boston and familiar with activities and organizations


Preferred Qualifications: 

● Past experience as a Resident Assistant or Residential Life/Housing Assistant 

● Experience in event planning and leading high school students 


Experience: 

● Camp Counselor and/or Working with Teens: 1 year (Preferred) 

● Event Planning and budgeting: 1 year (Preferred) 

● Youth Development: 1 year (Preferred) 

● Administrative: 1 year (Preferred) 


Compensation: 

  • $2200 for a two week session. 
  • Living expenses at MIT dorms are covered
  • Daily breakfast and dinner are covered
  • Reimbursement of all program-related expenses
