Experteer Overview As an Employment Attorney at Edward Jones, you will provide strategic, business‑oriented counsel on workplace law across the firm. You partner with HR, leaders, and Legal to mitigate risk, ensure compliance, and advance business objectives. A core focus is wage‑and‑hour compliance, including multi‑state pay practices, with meaningful involvement in class and collective action matters. You play a key role in policy design, training, and cross‑functional collaboration to support a compliant, high‑performing workplace. Compensation / Benefits • Act as trusted advisor to HR, managers, and leaders on employment law matters with risk mitigation and practical solutions • Serve as SME on wage and hour compliance, including classification, overtime, incentive plans, timekeeping, breaks, and state/local laws • Lead strategic counseling on firm‑wide wage‑and‑hour compliance programs, classifications reviews, pay‑practice assessments, and remediation • Monitor regulatory developments in wage‑hour law and translate risk into guidance, policy updates, and proactive strategies • Collaborate with Human Capital, Finance, and other stakeholders on compensation and incentive program design to ensure compliance • Advise on potential litigation risk and provide actionable recommendations beyond issue spotting • Review and update employment policies, handbooks, and guidance materials • Work with HR on complex associate relations issues, leaves, accommodations, investigations, and discipline • Support internal audits, risk assessments, and training to promote compliance with employment laws • Contribute to broader Legal initiatives (M&A, due diligence, workforce planning) and manage outside counsel as needed • Oversee employment‑related class/collective action portfolio and assist in case strategy and updates • Provide practical, business‑aligned guidance on class action risk and mitigation to senior leaders • Conduct root‑cause analyses post‑litigation to strengthen internal controls • Report to the Employment Team Leader Tasks • J.D. and Missouri bar admission (or ability to obtain within six months) • Minimum 5 years of progressive attorney experience, including substantial law‑firm or equivalent experience • Deep expertise in wage‑and‑hour compliance across multiple jurisdictions • Strong experience with class and collective action litigation strategy and management • Experience with ERISA, wage and hour, and/or discrimination class actions • Ability to analyze, value, and resolve complex litigation matters • Excellent verbal and written communication, and strong interpersonal skills • Excellent organization and time management; ability to handle multiple demands • Adaptability and comfort with ambiguity • Preference for experience in the securities industry and familiarity with California law and PAGA claims Key requirements • medical and prescription drug • dental and vision • disability and life insurance • 401k retirement plan • HSA and FSA options • paid holidays and vacation
