Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct service with minimal supervision; to include assessment, creation of a vocational plan, administration and interpretation of psychometric tools, stabilizing counseling, crisis intervention, and coordination with the support team.
  • Facilitate and coordinate the implementation of the vocational plan, leverage the expertise of the team, and apply individualized interventions. Provide training to support team (i.e. behavioral management techniques, mental health issues, etc.).
  • Work collaboratively with key partners to guide client interventions to improve overall employability.
  • Assist the team in understanding the social and emotional factors related to the client’s employment problems.
  • Apply sound judgment while navigating complex client issues that manifest as client barriers to employment (i.e. domestic violence, mental health concerns, self-harm, criminal history).
  • Ensure legal, ethical, and policy compliance, protecting and ensuring client confidentiality.
  • Provide consultation, and develop and maintain positive relationships with church leaders, including providing training and presentations as needed or requested.
  • Develops working relationships and partnerships with other Church and community resources.
  • Manages budgets, ensuring appropriate use and administration of funds. Maintains financial records.

70% Vocational Counseling: Provides development expertise and services for up to 150 associates annually (average of 60-76 at any given time). Assesses associates' vocational strengths, weaknesses, vocational impairments and gathers related disability information. Administers formal vocational assessments; analyzes and synthesizes the information. Guides the associate in creating a development plan. Processes enrollment of associates in compliance with Church policies and applicable laws. Maintains files, correspondence with priesthood leaders, and bishop-assigned mentors. Coordinates all aspects of the development process with associates. Coordinates case staffing meetings with involved parties. Ensures the associate is prepared for job placement.

15% Professional Consultation: Provides consultation to Church leaders. Trains and supervises work done by Church- Service Missionaries and volunteers.

15% Resource Management: Develops working relationships and partnerships with other Church resources and with community resources and programs, including government agencies, technical training programs, other schools and employers. Identifies appropriate offsite technical skills training programs, establishes payment options and training report guidelines for associates attending these programs. Establishes partnerships with employers for business partnerships and job placement opportunities. Consults with Church leaders.


  • Masters degree in Rehabilitation Counseling/Administration, Social Work or closely-related discipline required.
  • Certification as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) and/or LCSW or independent licensure in closely-related discipline required.
  • 4+ years experience, two of those years after obtaining Masters degree, in case load management working with individuals who have disabilities and/or vocational impairments.
  • Proven understanding of disabilities and accompanying work assignment needs along with a knowledge and understanding of labor and disability law.
  • Proven training skills, vocational assessment skills, plan development skills and vocational counseling experience required.
  • Proven ability to work independently with little oversight. Able to provide professional presentations and training.
  • Knowledge of local resources where the job is located is highly desirable. Ability to work cohesively with Church leaders at various levels.
