ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Provides consultation to teacher and other Agency staff acting as a liaison with families.
- Maintains appropriate, current and accurate social work files, central files and other reports as necessary for case management services for assigned caseload.
- Provides advocacy and case management for families to ensure availability and use of Agency or other community services as needed.
- Provides indirect and/or direct counseling services to families and students. It may include direct IEP mandated counseling to students.
- Coordinates evaluations of students on caseload, and chairs staff sharing recommendations with parents, ensuring final treatment plans are implemented.
- Participates in weekly Social Work coverage, including other colleague’s caseloads and transportation issues, which may result in extended hours.
- May be required to transport students and/or families when deemed necessary by the Social Work Supervisor/Manager.
- Understands the medical, psycho-social, educational characteristics and needs of the population served by the Agency.
- Available for various discipline related meetings and in-service sessions deemed necessary by the Social Work Supervisor/Manager.
- Provides supervision and didactic services for area college students interested in pursuing a social work career and when deemed necessary by the Social Work Supervisor/Manager.
- Participates in Agency functions and various community meetings as requested.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE
Master’s degree (MSW) in Social Work required, a minimum of one (1) to three (3) years related experience preferably in school type setting.
Other Skills And Abilities
Must be able to complete certification in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention and any other mandated State and/or Agency trainings.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Prefer the individual possesses or is in active pursuit of a Licensed Master of Social Work (LMSW) license from the State Education Department. Must have a valid NYS driver's license with an acceptable driving record according to Mary Cariola Agency guidelines.
