Responsibilities

This position is a Human Resources representative, responsible for the HR transactions for all Staff, Graduate Assistants, and OPS appointments in the Department of Psychology and assists the Sr. Administrative Specialist with faculty HR processes.

The Administrative Associate plays a crucial role in the success of the Psychology Department. By serving in this position, you will contribute directly to the success of the academic teaching and research efforts at Florida State University.

  • Serving as the HR Transactional Rep processing all personnel actions including hiring, reappointments, and terminations for all Staff, Graduate Assistants, and OPS employees including Work-Study, and Post-docs for the Department of Psychology.
  • Submitting appointments and communicating with onboarding employees to gather required documents.
  • Tracking, monitoring, and following up with HR transactions until completion.
  • Serving as Time and Leave coordinator for the Department to ensure timely and accurate payment for all employees by monitoring active appointment reports, and payroll cost center reports on a bi-weekly basis.
  • Maintaining departmental tracking spreadsheets to ensure all HR and payroll information is accurate and up to date for all employees of the department.
  • Creating Graduate Assistant reappointment letters, inputting Graduate Student Mass appointments, and acting as liaison between students and the Center for Global Engagement.

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalency and three years of experience or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to three years.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience performing accurately in a detail-oriented environment and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to demonstrate critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to gather, interpret, report and/or edit information.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, and willingness to learn new computer programs.
  • Ability to interpret and apply related University policies, procedures, principles, and practices.
  • Experience communicating effectively verbally and in writing and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Anticipated Salary Range

Starting in the mid $30,000's, commensurate with education and experience.
