Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Social Worker to join our team at West Campus in the Early Intervention Department. This full-time position is designed for an individual who is passionate about supporting young children and their families in navigating social, emotional, and developmental challenges through a family coaching model. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with educators in local school districts, families, and community agencies to promote positive outcomes for children in home and community settings.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct home visits individually and jointly using Primary Service Provider Model
  • Conduct assessments to identify the needs of children and families, developing appropriate intervention plans.
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to create a supportive learning environment that fosters the emotional well-being of students.
  • Conducts home visits for evaluations and consultations with parents
  • Support families in connecting with community agencies when appropriate to support for things like housing, therapies, financial resources
  • Act as a liaison between families and community resources, connecting them with services such as mental health support, financial assistance, and educational programs.
  • Conduct social case histories in addition to broard developmental tools to determine child and family needs
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of all interactions and interventions in compliance with ethical and legal standards.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of school-wide initiatives aimed at improving student well-being.
  • Advocate for the needs of children and families within the educational system and the broader community.
  • Stay informed about current trends and research in social work, child development, and educational practices.

Requirements:
  • Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution.
  • Valid state licensure as a social worker (LMSW or LCSW) is required.
  • Must possess driver's license and ability to travel throughout Kalamazoo county
  • Experience working with young children and families, preferably in an educational or early childhood context.

Other Skills/Abilities:

  • Basic understand of eligibility criteria for Autism Spectrum Disorder.
  • Displays willingness to support and make decisions with sound judgment in timely manner.
  • Strong understanding of child development, mental health issues, and family dynamics.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with young children, families, and staff.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to be a compassionate and empathetic, non-biased listener
  • Adapts to frequent changes in the work environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards of practice.
  • Proficiency in using technology and software for documentation and communication.
  • Must have strong writing skills and the ability to write comprehensive/logical reports and correspondence.
  • Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
  • Infant Mental Health Endorsement preferred.
