Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC or CASAC-T)

Annual Salary: $58k – $65k (varies depending on years of experience)

Substance Abuse Counselor will provide individual and group support and education. They will primarily coordinate referrals to detoxification, rehabilitation and other drug treatment modalities.

**Will be providing coverage on Riker's Island.

Responsibilities Include:

• Providing substance abuse therapeutic services and ensure clients are receiving ongoing assessments as well as targeted interventions to address their current or history of substance abuse to assist clients toward their goals of sobriety
• Facilitating substance abuse groups to address addictive behaviors and promote relapse prevention
• Providing case management coordination
• Conducting family sessions
• Communicating with referral sources
• Conducting assessment of patient progress
• Communicating with the clinical team regarding special needs and procedures
• Encouraging and providing ongoing support so that each client might assume an active role in their own treatment plan to the maximum extent possible

Requirements:

• Must have an active CASAC/ CASAC-T License from the state of New York
• Familiarity with various substance abuse and clinical treatment modalities and resources
• Must have experience working with mentally ill, substance abuse population, homeless or special needs population.
