The Intensive Social Worker provides casework services in the homes of families who need support and assistance due to their children being at risk of out of home placement. Referrals are primarily from the Erie County Department of Children’s Services and Child Protection. Caseworker provides strength based in-home interventions to assist families with reducing family risks that lead to child neglect.

Interventions include:

  • providing daily home supportive counseling to parents
  • helping parents improve on their parenting skills
  • assessing each child’s health, safety and wellbeing
  • making referrals to behavioral health services for parents
  • helping families secure safe housing
  • linking families with public assistance, etc.

Coordination of services and frequent communication with Department of Social Services required. Assist families with complying with Family Court ordered services. Caseloads are small (2-3 families) to allow for focused daily interventions (10-15 hours per week) for short term durations of 4-6 weeks. Timely documentation, report writing and client record management skills a must. Ability to work with team partner on cases using Motivational Interviewing evidenced based practices. Flexible work schedule including remote and office work, some nontraditional hours, supportive work cultural and environment.

Professional Skills:

  • Valid New York State Driver’s License and adequate auto insurance.
  • May require some transportation of clients
  • Ability to work effectively with clients, families, staff and community contacts from a variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds
  • Work is part-time, week-ends only.
  • Ability to be organized and have timely documentation and case record management skills
  • Professional attire and professional communication skills and role modeling needed
  • Ability to work in office environment, climb stairs, use of technology

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or other human service field with experience in family and youth services or Master’s Degree in Social Work or other human service field with experience.

Pay: From $19.00 per hour
