Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Substance Abuse Counselor, based in Newburgh, NY. The Substance Abuse Counselor will work directly with clients to provide individualized support, including treatment planning, case management, facilitating relapse prevention strategies, and addressing chemical dependency and mental health concerns. The role also involves maintaining detailed client records, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and providing education and resources to clients and their families to support recovery and well-being.

Qualifications

  • Strong expertise in Treatment Planning and Case Management
  • Knowledge and experience in addressing Chemical Dependency and Relapse Prevention
  • Understanding and experience in supporting clients with Mental Health challenges
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust with clients
  • Certification or licensure in Substance Abuse Counseling or a related field required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related area preferred
  • Familiarity with state and federal regulations related to substance abuse and mental health services
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team setting
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in record-keeping
