Position Summary
The QMHP-T provides direct clinical support in a 23-hour crisis stabilization setting, delivering rapid assessment, intervention, and care coordination for individuals experiencing acute mental health and/or substance use crises. This role works as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure safety, stabilization, and appropriate discharge planning.
Responsibilities:
- Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation using evidence-based techniques
- Monitor and document client behavior, safety status, and response to interventions
- Assist in developing and implementing short-term stabilization plans
- Collaborate with clinical staff, medical providers, and peer specialists to support care delivery
- Facilitate admissions, intakes, and discharges, including coordination of follow-up services
- Provide continuous observation and support in a secure, high-acuity environment
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with state and agency standards
- Support care coordination and referrals to appropriate levels of care (outpatient, inpatient, detox, etc.)
- Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, and safety protocols
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related field (required)
- Eligible for or registered as a QMHP-T (Qualified Mental Health Professional – Trainee)
- Experience in behavioral health, crisis services, or direct care preferred
- Knowledge of crisis intervention, trauma-informed care, and de-escalation techniques
- Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with electronic health records
Certifications (Preferred or Required)
- CPR / First Aid certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
- Crisis intervention training (e.g., CPI) preferred
Work Environment & Schedule
- 24/7 crisis stabilization setting
- Rotating shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
- High-acuity behavioral health environment requiring constant awareness and responsiveness
Physical & Behavioral Requirements
- Ability to remain alert, responsive, and engaged for extended periods
- Ability to safely manage behavioral crises using approved interventions
- Must be able to stand, walk, and assist clients as needed
