Required Qualifications:Master's Degree in School Counseling, or a closely related field Valid Colorado School Counselor License, or other closely related SSP licenseExperience supporting elementary-aged studentsStrong interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to collaborate effectively with staff and familiesMust successfully complete a background checkPreferred Qualifications:Elementary classroom teaching experience or school counseling experienceExperience implementing a comprehensive counseling programFamiliarity with MTSS frameworksKnowledge of the ASCA National ModelExperience conducting risk assessments and crisis responseExperience working with military-connected students and familiesExperience with PBIS or schoolwide SEL initiativesExperience with data-driven counseling programsPosition Overview:Banning Lewis Ranch Academy (BLRA) is seeking a passionate, student-centered Elementary School Counselor who is committed to supporting the whole child-academically, socially, and emotionally.BLRA is a CDE Performance Rated K–5 charter school serving over 700 students in northeast Colorado Springs and is part of the larger K-12 Banning Lewis Academy system. Our school community values relationships first, strong academic outcomes, and developing citizens of character.Our student population includes diverse learners, including students with individual education plans, English language learners, gifted learners, and a large military-connected population. We seek a counselor who is collaborative, adaptable, and solution-focused, and who thrives in a fast-paced school environment while maintaining a strong commitment to student well-being.The ideal candidate demonstrates a strong understanding of the ASCA National Model, delivers a comprehensive school counseling program, and collaborates with teachers, families, and school leadership to ensure that every student is known, supported, and empowered to succeed.Preference will be given to candidates who have prior elementary counseling or teaching experience, as the role includes classroom instruction through guidance lessons and schoolwide programming.Key Responsibilities:Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Deliver classroom guidance lessons across K–5 grade levelsProvide individual and small group counselingConduct risk assessments and safety evaluations when necessarySupport MTSS processes, intervention planning, and service deliveryAssist in the development of behavior support plans, including FBAs and BIPsCollaborate with teachers and administrators regarding student concernsMaintain confidential student records and documentationProvide crisis response and student support during emergenciesConsult with teachers regarding classroom strategies for student successConnect families with outside mental health resources when neededParticipate in professional learning aligned with the ASCA National ModelSupport schoolwide initiatives focused on student character, leadership, and belongingWhy Join Us?
