TCDC Community Support Specialist plays a vital role in fostering a safe, healthy, and engaging living environment for residents. This position emphasizes resident engagement, educational support, community-building initiatives, health and wellness promotion, and maintaining a secure and clean environment. The Community Support Specialist works collaboratively with property management and external partners to ensure all residents feel supported, valued, and empowered.
Key Responsibilities
Resident Engagement and Support
· Serve as the primary point of contact for residents, addressing inquiries with courtesy and professionalism.
· Engage residents in various activities and educational programs to cultivate a vibrant community environment.
· Build strong relationships with residents to foster a sense of belonging and trust within the community.
Resource Management
· Collaborate with volunteers and community partners to organize educational workshops and community activities.
· Provide residents with essential information regarding available services and programs.
Safety and Emergency Response
· Control access to the premises by verifying identification and ensuring compliance with security procedures.
· Conduct regular property patrols and monitor surveillance cameras to detect and deter unauthorized activities.
· Respond promptly and professionally to incidents, including emergencies, disturbances, and maintenance concerns.
· Maintain detailed incident reports and assist with security measures, including welfare checks.
Community Health and Wellness
· Support the organization’s health and wellness initiatives by assisting with food service distribution and maintaining cleanliness in common areas.
· Promote mental and physical well-being through community education and resource sharing.
· Implement crisis prevention strategies to identify and address potential issues, ensuring the safety and well-being of residents at all times.
Administrative and Operational Duties
· Maintain thorough documentation, including daily logs for guest check-ins, package deliveries, maintenance requests, and incident reports.
· Perform general cleaning duties in public spaces to uphold a welcoming and hygienic environment.
· Participate in regular staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities.
Collaboration and Professionalism
· Work collaboratively with all TCDC staff, residents’ families, and community agencies to address their needs.
· Model Fair Housing principles by treating all residents equitably and respectfully.
· Uphold organizational values and professional standards in all interactions.
Additional Duties
· Carry out other related tasks as assigned to further the mission of the organization.
Qualifications
Education
· High school diploma or GED required; relevant experience preferred.
Preferred Experience
· Experience working with vulnerable populations in a case management capacity.
· Skills in crisis prevention and intervention techniques.
· Proven ability to advocate for clients to access necessary services.
· Experience collaborating with community organizations and service providers.
· Ability to lead workshops and engage residents in community activities.
· Knowledge of mental health and substance use issues.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
· Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
· Basic familiarity with technology.
· Availability for flexible work hours (shifts vary).
