Direct Care Advocate
Location: Tyler, TX | On-Site Position
Monday-Friday Full Time Role
(Evening/Weekend Shift Work) as needed.
Reports To: Stabilization Manager & Case Manager

Job Summary: The Direct Care Advocate plays a key role in the day-to-day care, support, and supervision of women in Selah’s stabilization program. This role supports residents with compassion, consistency, and structure as they begin their journey toward healing. Working within a Christ-centered and trauma-informed environment, the advocate ensures that each woman is treated with dignity and that the home atmosphere remains peaceful, safe, and nurturing.
Core Responsibilities:
- Supervise and engage residents during assigned shifts, modeling healthy relationships and boundaries.
- Maintain a safe, structured, and welcoming home environment.
- Support residents with transportation, appointments, meals, and daily routines
- Document shift notes, incidents, and observations in accordance with program procedures
- De-escalate emotional situations and respond to crises calmly using trauma-informed techniques.
- Enforce house guidelines with consistency and grace.
- Provide spiritual encouragement and model Christ-like character in all interactions.
- Communicate effectively with team members and report any concerns or observations.
- Assist with household upkeep and maintaining a clean, organized environment.

Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (some college or experience in social services, caregiving, or ministry preferred)
- Previous experience working with women in crisis, trauma-informed environments, or residential settings is a plus.
- Comfortable working in a Christian ministry environment and sharing faith appropriately
- Must have a healthy approach to boundaries and support of residents
- Must pass background check and drug screening
- Valid driver’s license preferred
Schedule Details:
- Full-Time Role: Weekday daytime shifts, includes some flexibility and on-call rotation
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
