Princeton International School of Mathematics and Science (PRISMS) seeks a dedicated, proactive, and compassionate full-time Residential Advisor to join our Student Life team. This position plays a critical role in fostering a supportive, structured, and engaging residential environment for our boarding students.

About the Role

The Residential Advisor (RA) provides oversight, leadership, and guidance to students living in Ettl House, PRISMS’ co-ed residence, which houses approximately 60 boarding students. The RA is one of two full-time staff members responsible for ensuring the well-being, safety, and personal development of our boarding community.

Responsibilities

  • Student Supervision & Mentorship: Provide support, mentorship, and oversight to students, fostering a positive and inclusive residential environment.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Maintain strong communication with students, parents (many of whom are international), faculty, and staff, particularly the Assistant Principal, Director of Student Life, School Nurse, and fellow RAs.
  • Health & Well-being: Monitor students’ physical and mental health, ensuring they have access to appropriate resources and guidance.
  • Community Engagement: Promote a culture of respect, accountability, and personal growth by organizing residential activities and encouraging healthy habits.
  • Responsiveness & Problem-Solving: Be readily available via text and email to respond to student needs and emergencies.
  • Multicultural Sensitivity: Given PRISMS' diverse international student body, including a significant Chinese population, proficiency in both English and Chinese is highly desirable.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; experience in residential life or student support preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with a diverse adolescent population.
  • Experience in independent or boarding schools is ideal.
  • Ability to act as a positive role model, demonstrating patience, independence, and resourcefulness.

Additional Details

  • The Residential Advisor lives on campus and plays an active role in students’ daily lives.
  • Housing and meals are provided for the RA.
