New York Edge is the largest provider of after school and summer camp programs in New York City public schools. Each year, programs in academics – including STEM, the arts, sports & wellness, and college access help 40,000 students develop leadership skills and succeed in school. Working parents count on our programs to provide safe and enriching environments for their children.


Summary:

We are excited to give the young adults in our community an opportunity to build professional skills while helping engage campers in positive ways throughout the summer. Our Counselor in Training program will teach and encourage participants to be effective youth workers by attending training, working alongside seasoned youth professionals, and creating a supportive, safe work environment. New York Edge camps are housed in a New York City Elementary or Middle School. Counselors in Training (C.I.T.) will support camp staff and instructors.


Job Type:

Summer Seasonal, Part-Time


Pay:

$17.51 per hr


Schedule:

Up to 25 Hours a week; Mon-Fri from July 6th, 2026- August 14th, 2026


Core responsibilities:

  • Support the overall successful operation of the Summer Day Camp
  • Keep the immediate supervisor informed daily of any concerns regarding children, staff, or the facility.
  • Support specific scheduled assignments, including but not limited to: arrival/departure, and office/administrative support.
  • Provide assistance in the learning environment and necessary supplies for program activities.
  • Assist in ensuring the cleanliness and organization of the camp room, program supplies, and activity space.
  • Attend all mandatory trainings, meetings and events
  • All other duties as assigned


Qualifications and Requirements:


  • Must be enrolled in a credentialed High School (DOE, Private, or Charter)
  • All required documentation, including Employment Certification (Working Papers) for students aged 14–17, must be submitted by the specified deadlines.
  • Must be able to attend orientation at NYE Headquarters in Woodside, Queens
  • Must be responsible, reliable, and punctual!


At time of offer and acceptance, the job requires safety and security clearances through the Department of Education and Department of Health.
