Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Counselor to join our dynamic mental health and behavioral services team. Duties
- Conduct thorough intake assessments to evaluate clients’ mental health status, medical history, and psychosocial needs using ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding standards for accurate documentation.
- Deliver individual, group, and family counseling sessions utilizing evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, and applied behavior analysis (ABA).
- Implement crisis intervention strategies to manage urgent situations involving PTSD care, grief counseling, addiction issues, or behavioral crises with professionalism and sensitivity.
- Develop personalized treatment plans aligned with client goals while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and secure medical records.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including social workers, medical professionals, educators, and case managers—to coordinate care plans for clients with disabilities or developmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorder or special education needs.
- Utilize telehealth platforms effectively to provide remote counseling sessions while adhering to clinical research protocols and CPT coding standards for billing purposes.
- Maintain detailed clinical documentation of patient care activities, assessments, progress notes, and treatment outcomes in accordance with medical terminology standards.
- Stay current on behavioral health trends by engaging in ongoing research and professional development related to ICD coding updates, mental health therapies, and crisis management techniques.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling psychology or related field; licensure or certification as required by state law.
- Proven experience in mental health counseling within outpatient or inpatient settings; hospital experience is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of psychotherapy modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, applied behavior analysis (ABA), and psychopharmacology principles.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with children, adolescents, individuals with disabilities—including autism—and geriatric populations.
- Expertise in crisis management techniques for urgent situations involving PTSD or acute behavioral issues.
- Familiarity with ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems for diagnostic evaluation and medical documentation accuracy.
- Experience utilizing telehealth technology for remote patient care delivery.
- Excellent communication skills for intake interviews, patient assessment discussions, and collaborative case management meetings.

Pay: $24.61 - $29.64 per hour
