Job Summary

Sweetgrass Counseling and Consultation, LLC, a small counseling and consultation practice, is seeking a licensed mental health clinician to join our team as an independent contractor. The ideal candidate will have experience working with diverse populations, a commitment to evidence-based practice, and a passion for promoting mental wellness. As a contractor, you will have the flexibility to manage your schedule while collaborating with our practice to provide high-quality mental health services.

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial assessments to identify clients’ mental health needs.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to client goals.
• Provide individual, couples, family, or group therapy sessions as needed.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client progress and treatment plans in accordance with practice guidelines.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate client care.
• Offer crisis intervention services when required.
• Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with clinic policies and HIPAA standards.
• Engage in ongoing research and professional development to stay current with best practices in mental health therapy.

Compensation

• 60/40 split during onboarding period
• Transition to 70/30 split (therapist retains 70%) after demonstrating consistent caseload engagement and billing compliance
• Monthly payment based on collected revenue
• No office rent or overhead fees

Caseload Expectations

Following a 60–90 day onboarding period, therapists are expected to maintain a caseload consistent with:

• Approximately 40 billable sessions per month

This level of engagement supports continuity of care for clients and allows therapists to build a steady, predictable caseload while maintaining flexibility in scheduling.

Expectations for Success

• Complete documentation within required timeframes
• Monitor insurance claims regularly
• Maintain consistent client engagement
• Use professional judgment in managing cancellations and attendance

Qualifications

• Active Tennessee license (LPC-MHSP, LCSW, or LMFT)- must be able to practice independently
• Professional liability insurance
• Strong documentation and follow-through skills
• Ability to maintain a consistent client caseload
• Preference for availability during evenings and weekends.
• Experience in a group practice or similar setting.
• Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and Google Workspace.
• Demonstrated commitment to social justice and advocacy.
• Experience providing teletherapy services.

Requirements

• Knowledge of evidence-based treatment modalities for common mental health disorders.
• At least 2 years of experience providing therapy services to individuals, couples, families, or groups.
• Experience working with diverse populations and a commitment to cultural competence.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining a collaborative relationship with the practice.
• Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining client confidentiality.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds.
• A passion for helping others improve their mental health and well-being through effective therapeutic practices.
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
• Professional liability insurance is required.
