Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behavior Technician (BT) to support individuals with developmental disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in behavioral therapy and a genuine passion for working with children. As a Behavior Technician, you will implement individualized treatment plans, assist with daily living activities, and contribute to positive behavioral outcomes. Duties
- Implement evidence-based behavioral interventions based on applied behavior analysis (ABA) principles to promote skill development and reduce challenging behaviors.
- Collect, record, and analyze data on client progress to inform treatment adjustments and ensure accurate medical documentation.
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as grooming, dressing, feeding, and toileting, fostering independence.
- Support teaching strategies designed to enhance communication, social skills, and adaptive behaviors tailored to each individual's care plan.
- Collaborate closely with supervisors, families, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure consistency and effectiveness of interventions.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and confidentiality standards when handling medical records and client information.
- Create a safe, engaging environment that encourages positive behavior management and client participation.
Requirements
- Prior experience or training in behavioral therapy, applied behavior analysis (ABA), or working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred.
- Strong interest in working with children and individuals with autism or special needs.
- Ability to assist with ADLs and implement behavior management techniques effectively.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, health care practices, and documentation procedures related to behavioral health.
- Excellent communication skills—both verbal and written—to accurately record data and collaborate with team members.
- Patience, empathy, and a proactive attitude towards teaching and supporting clients’ growth.
- Willingness to adhere to safety protocols, confidentiality policies, and ethical standards outlined by healthcare regulations such as HIPAA.
