Women's & Children's Residential Peer Support Specialist - Full Time

As our Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS), you will use your lived experience and recovery to provide support and share hope as you walk with a beneficiary through the first steps of their recovery journey. You will deliver community-based services to support ongoing treatment and functional gains by assisting adult MH/SU clients with skill enforcement and one-on-one support to develop interpersonal and community related skills.

This is a community-based role. If you love being out and about and seeing clients in the community, you may be a great fit! We provide mileage reimbursement!

Interested but not yet certified? We offer a Peer Support Scholarship Program in which we can assist you in obtaining certification upon hire AND cover the cost!

Pay
Starting pay is $18.00 per hour.

Schedule
Full Time: Tuesday- Saturday, 8am-5pm

Full-time employees are eligible for medical benefits the first of the month 30 days after hire date. Options for a standard plan and an HSA plan with a $100 initial contribution and up to a $25 per paycheck match. 10 paid holidays and PTO hours which accrue at a rate of 10 hours per month. After 6 months employees are eligible to enroll in our 401(k) plan which has a 4% match. Company paid life insurance, short and long term disability, in house and paid training opportunities, and additional pay for working holidays. SouthLight provides mileage reimbursement.

Job Responsibilities of a Women's & Children's Residential Peer Support Specialist

Share lived experience to support, encourage and enhance a beneficiary’s treatment and recovery
Model recovery values, attitudes, beliefs, and personal actions to encourage wellness and resilience for beneficiary served
Explore the importance and creation of a recovery and wellness identity
Promote the opportunity for personal growth by identifying teachable moments for ability relationships skills that empower the beneficiary and enhance personal responsibility
Model and share examples of healthy social interactions and facilitate familiarity with and connection to, the local community, including mutual aid groups and self-help resources
Provide reproductive planning and health education, and refer to external partners, as necessary
Guide and encourage a beneficiary to take responsibility for and actively participate in their own recovery
Assist with self-determination and decision making
Model recovery values, attitudes, beliefs, and personal actions to encourage wellness and resilience
Teach and promote self-advocacy to the beneficiary
Teach and model independent living skills
Assist with crisis interventions
Participate in team meetings and the PCP process

Qualifications of a Women's & Children's Residential Peer Support Specialist

Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED equivalent and be at least 18 years old.
Minimum of 1 year working with the adult MH/SA population in a community setting

Licensure/Certifications

Active Certification in NC as Peer Support Specialist
Certification in CPR, First Aid/Seizure management, Blood borne Pathogens training, and NCI
Need active NC driver’s license

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Good oral and written communication skills
Microsoft Office Suite
Knowledge of Wake County resources and opportunities
Great “people skills” ability to make lasting community connections
Ability to learn other technological recording methods i.e. EMRs/EHRs
Ability to work in a team model that changes regularly as needed
Ability to be flexible and adapt to frequent change in work flow based on client need and service structure
HIPPA and Substance Abuse specific confidentiality and privacy rights
