Emergency Department Client Care Coordinator
Report directly to: Practice Manager
Purpose:
This position serves as a liaison between the medical team and the client by providing financial information (such as summaries, estimates, and payment options) to the client, educating the client (reviewing discharge instructions, discussing medications), and coordinating communication between the client and the medical team.
Responsibilities and Requirements:
· Provide financial updates and summaries for owners, including discussing collection of deposits and current financial status
· Organize and maintain logging of clinical team communication including reporting diagnostic results to doctors and organizing client communication.
· Provide client education including, but not limited to home care instructions, medications (indications, adverse reactions) and general wellness updates on hospitalized patients
· Managing medical records, reports, and correspondence
· Support client care
What you’ll do:
· Act as liaison between the clinical team and clients by streamlining client concerns, phone calls, and follow-up communication.
· Provide financial updates and summaries for owners, including discussing collection of deposits and current financial status
· Facilitate prescription refills through VetSource and client messages/voicemails on the pharmacy line.
· Package, ship, and track status of all ER diagnostics
· Audit overnight charges to prepare patients for discharge in the morning.
· Enter and check charges for hospitalized care throughout the day.
· Update estimates for continue care of hospitalized patients.
· Discuss payment options available to provide patient care
· Follow up with discharged hospitalized patients within 48 hours to check patient status.
Who you are:
· Registered Veterinary Technician license required
· Prior veterinary experience required, previous emergency experience desired
· Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary
· Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)
· Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
