Helping Hearts of VA is seeking a Substance Use Disorder Counselor to join our behavioral health team providing services within our ARTS Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP – ASAM 2.1) and Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP – ASAM 2.5).
This position is ideal for a CSAC, CSAC-Supervisee, QMHP, or Licensed Mental Health Professional (LCSW, LPC, LMFT) who is passionate about supporting individuals in recovery and experienced in facilitating therapeutic groups.
We are a growing behavioral health organization dedicated to providing high-quality, recovery-oriented treatment services throughout Northern Virginia.
Hourly Pay Range
CSAC-Supervisee $32 – $35 per hour
CSAC $35 – $40 per hour
QMHP $38 – $45 per hour
LMHP (LCSW, LPC, LMFT) $50 – $65 per hour
(Pay is based on licensure, experience, and group facilitation experience.)
Responsibilities
Facilitate structured substance use disorder therapy groups for IOP and PHP programs
Provide individual counseling sessions when clinically appropriate
Conduct screenings and assist with assessments for substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders
Assist in the development and implementation of individualized treatment plans
Utilize evidence-based practices, including:
Motivational Interviewing (MI)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Relapse Prevention
Psychoeducation
Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation in compliance with DMAS, DBHDS, and HIPAA regulations
Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings
Support clients in developing coping skills, relapse prevention strategies, and recovery supports
Qualifications
Required
One of the following credentials:
CSAC
CSAC-Supervisee
QMHP
LMHP (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, etc.)
Experience providing substance use disorder or behavioral health counseling
Experience facilitating therapeutic groups
Strong documentation and organizational skills
Preferred
Experience working in IOP, PHP, or residential treatment settings
Experience with co-occurring disorders
Familiarity with Virginia Medicaid (DMAS) behavioral health documentation requirements
