Nevada City School of the Arts (NCSOTA), a TK-8 charter school in operation since 1994, is seeking a dynamic, culturally aware, stimulating, and highly qualified School Psychologist to join our team.

JOB TITLE: SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST

SCHEDULE: 2026-27 School Year – Full-time

WAGE: $96,101-$114,850 per year, depending on experience

SUMMARY: Under the general direction of the Executive Director, School Psychologists evaluate the needs of children in an educational setting; perform psycho-educational assessments to determine appropriate programs and instructional processes; assist students in understanding and seeking solutions to social, emotional, or academic problems and issues; provide consultation and serve as a resource pertaining to student behavior management and learning strategies, and welfare and attendance problems and concerns. The position works directly with school site administrators, general education teachers, and other student services team members.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: The School Psychologist demonstrates knowledge of principles, methods, and best practices related to psychoeducational assessment, including the use of appropriate psychological and achievement appraisal instruments to evaluate students' academic, social, emotional, and behavioral functioning from TK-8th grade. The psychologist effectively assesses students, analyzes data, and develops educationally relevant recommendations to support learning and well-being. This role requires skill in providing individual and group counseling interventions within the educational setting, collaborating with educators, administrators, families, and community agencies, and contributing meaningfully to the planning and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and other student support plans. The School Psychologist maintains effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; establishes positive relationships with school and community partners; understands and follows oral and written directions; and applies research-based practices to support students with diverse learning and social-emotional needs.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

  • Conduct comprehensive psychoeducational assessments using appropriate standardized instruments to identify students' learning, emotional, behavioral, and social-emotional needs and determine eligibility for special education services.
  • Conduct culturally responsive assessments that account for linguistic diversity, cultural factors, and potential bias in standardized measures; analyze campus data for disproportionality in special education identification.
  • Interpret assessment data and prepare clear, timely written reports that identify student strengths, needs, and educationally relevant recommendations.
    • Participate as a member of Individualized Education Program (IEP) and Student Study Team (SST) teams, contributing to eligibility determinations, educational planning, and the development and monitoring of IEP goals and services.
  • Consult and collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, administrators, and other student services personnel to support instructional planning, behavior management strategies, and interventions that promote student learning and well-being.
  • Provide individual and small-group counseling services for students in special education, within the educational setting and scope of practice, to support students' social-emotional, behavioral, and academic functioning.
  • Support parents and guardians by explaining assessment results, learning profiles, and social-emotional considerations, and by offering guidance related to students' educational needs.
  • Serve as a resource to school staff and the school community regarding student mental health, behavior supports, attendance concerns, and access to appropriate youth and social service resources.
  • Collaborate with community mental health, social service, and juvenile agencies as appropriate, and support referral follow-up to ensure continuity of services.
  • Assist in identifying school-wide and site-based psychological service needs and contribute to the development of prevention, intervention, and support practices.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential student records and documentation in accordance with state and federal laws, ethical standards, and school policies.
  • Prepare reports, summaries, and documentation related to school psychological services and activities, as requested.
  • Consistent Medi-Cal billing for assessments and service delivery
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, families, staff, administrators, and community partners.
  • Maintain current knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, ethical standards, and best practices governing school psychology services in California.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Possession of a valid Pupil Personnel Services Credential in School Psychology issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) (required)
  • Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution (required)
